MIVAN Technology Advances the Construction Industry | NASSCOM Community | The Official Community of Indian IT Industry

The construction industry is advancing by leaps and bounds with the rise of innovative solutions and breakthrough technology. One such fast-paced technology that is being widely adopted is the MIVAN technology. It is an aluminium shuttering system design and construction technology which offers speed, durability, quality and required strength to a residential building. The concept is a combination of core walls and slab which form a schedule perspective that is much quicker than the conventional beam, column, and brick construction.

Here are some of the numerous benefits of adopting MIVAN technology.

The technology, of course, is not without a few disadvantages. Firstly, the system may need skilled labour to ensure that the formwork is de-shuttered and moved professionally. There is an increased consumption of steel and concrete compared to the conventional RCC beam and slab system. The capital expenditure of the aluminium formwork system leads to an increased cost of construction and there is limited scope for modification or alteration. Further, the wall panels will sometimes require gypsum plaster internally and external grade putty externally to cover up the visible formwork lines. The construction of walls will require SDC concrete to ensure better quality and the change in layout at floor/block levels must be minimized to control costs.

Developers are leveraging MIVAN to ensure timely projects. Here’s how.

Firstly, the right coordination between vendors and experts is essential at the design stage to streamline the project and ensure seamless execution. Architects and Structural Consultants collaborate with Project Management teams at the initial concept stage to minimise cost and time impact.

This system design or technology involves walls and slabs concreting with lightweight and easy-to-handle aluminium forms. Each formwork panel is designed by engineers for a particular location and a pre-determined movement is established as part of the initial project planning. To ensure minimal iterations, stakeholders finalise the layout at the design stage. During the design stage, stakeholders concentrate on reducing a number of wall component designs and slab component panels. They work on corner panels, junctions, beam panels, kickers, etc. to minimize construction. The system design can encourage reduced wall widths. Further, the code compliance with respect to fire ratings of partition walls, construction issues related to positioning of junction boxes, grooves for plumbing pipes, etc. are evaluated in the early design stage. And minimum change between floor level and between blocks increases the advantage of using the system formwork. Additionally, the standardization of floor-to-floor height helps multiple repeats of the props.

Developers across the country are realising the expedient value this technology brings to the construction process. A proven construction technique that is advancing the real estate sector, the government, developers and consultants are increasingly recommending the use of MIVAN technology.
