Imagine yourself in a meeting room discussing some important issues and suddenly you smell something unpleasant. Worst of all, you realize that it is coming from your feet. At that time, all you want to do would be to run away from there. Isn't it? Foot odour is one of the most embarrassing things and we all have faced this situation at some point.

Foot odour is basically caused because of bacteria and sweat. It is not the sweat that smells, but the bacteria that multiply rapidly in the moist area. Sweat is actually odourless, except when it is secreted from the glands in the armpit and genital area.

Here are some simple natural remedies to kick the unpleasant foot odour.

Black tea is packed with tannic acids that can kill odour-causing bacteria and close the pores of the feet. This helps your feet to sweat less.

How to use it : Boil two tea bags in water for 15 minutes. Remove the bags and mix the tea water with some more water. Let the mixture rest for a while, then soak your feet in it for 15- 30 minutes.

The smell of lavender oil is not only soothing but it also kills the bacteria, which cause foot odour. Put a few drops of lavender oil on your feet and massage them properly before going to bed.

The fermented liquid is excellent to get rid of foot odour. The acid in the vinegar neutralizes the odour that helps to kill the bacteria.

Mix half-a-cup of apple cider vinegar in a bucket of warm water and soak your feet in it for 10 -15 minutes.

You can also use corn-starch to keep embarrassing foot odour at bay. Corn-starch absorbs sweat and keeps your feet fresh.

Sprinkle some starch on your feet every day before putting on socks. You can also dust your feet and shoes with baking soda, which will kill bacteria and fungus and thus keep the smelly feet away.

Make a minty scrub at home using peppermint and sugar to kill the bacteria caused by sweat. This mint scrub will make your feet smell wonderful. Peppermint cools and deodorizes the skin while sugar removes the dead skin.

How to make it: Mix one tablespoon of sugar and two teaspoons dried peppermint in a bowl. Take a spoonful of this scrub, add a few drops of water and massage your feet with this paste every day.

Epsom salt has numerous health benefits and acts as an astringent in reducing sweating and killing bacteria.

Mix two cups of epsom salt in a bucket of warm water and soak your feet in it for 15 minutes, twice a day.

One of the best ways to remove foot odour permanently is by soaking your feet in rice water. Put some plain rice in water for half an hour and then drain it to get the rice extract. Soak your feet in the water for 10-15 minutes. Repeat this twice every week.

Coconut oil contains lauric acid which kills bacteria that causes foot odour. Mix coconut oil with cedarwood essential oil and massage your foot with it to conquer foot odour.
