Trolex have been awarded ‘Highly Commended’ by the British Safety Industry Federation for their ground-breaking Air XS Silica Monitor, which is the world’s first real-time respirable crystalline silica (RCS) monitor. The device was recognised in the ‘Product Innovation’ category, for its cutting-edge improvement of RCS detection.

The BSiF Awards, in association with the Safety and Health Excellence Awards took place on 6th April 2022 in Birmingham, hosted by Hugh Dennis, the famous actor and comedian. The BSif Awards recognised some of the UK’s most respected companies within the health and safety sector.

Silica poses the greatest risk to construction workers after asbestos. An estimated 600,000 construction workers are exposed to silica each year in the UK and the inhalation of silica dust particles is a danger to their health.

Trolex’s Air XS Silica Monitor will significantly improve construction worker safety by providing real-time detection of hazardous respirable crystalline silica (RCS) particulates in airborne dust mixtures - onsite. This precise yet user-friendly instrument needs just a few minutes of maintenance every month and is simple to set-up and operate with hardly any training required.

The instrument indicates the presence of RCS mass by volume, it can also determine the presence of RSC within dust mixtures. The Air XS Silica Monitor can also track varying concentrations of RCS content over time, informing personnel if the amount of RCS in their workspace is rising while they work and when it has reached hazardous levels.
